Thursday 20th September – windsurf *** The Dip - Felixstowe – cloudy.

F2 Ride 277 with Tushingham Storm 5.25.

28.28 knot max., 26.72 knot ave ., 6.31 knot hour, 18.20 knot mile, 21.70 km., 15.63 knot alpha .

After two knackering days on The Ray the wind shows no signs of abating! After another good night in the camper at East Beach Shoebury we headed home with local sailors already arranging what venue to use today! Arriving home at midday we unbacked the van, uploaded Tuesday’s session, made a sandwich then headed down to The Dip. It didn’t look overly windy on the water so we waited for wind Guinee pig lightweight Michael Galbreith to head out first on 4.2, he was under to start but soon found some wind. Heavier Andy Mexome was next out with 5m and he seemed well powered up so I went for my 5.25m with my Ride 277. It was surprisingly windy and it was difficult to sheet in and the sea was also big, I had some full short broad reaches and was surprised to get several 28 knot runs but I found gybing difficult on a smaller board and way overpowered! I should have changed down to 4.7 and enjoy the waves as Strawberry and Neil were doing! These are not my ideal conditions but I just have to rig smaller especially on checking Landguard weather station the SSW was gusting close to 30 knots! Another windy day tomorrow but from the west, am feed up with traveling so might just go to Levington although not the best of tides going out for most of the day but should be windy enough to counter that !!!
PS – Neil had a short swim when his UJ broke :(
